Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Willow mobile application ("App") or visiting this website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Danuk Studio ("we," "us," or "our"), the developer and publisher of Willow.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Willow. If you are between 13 and 18, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will delete their account immediately. Please contact us at support@danukstudio.com if you believe a child under 13 has registered.

3. Description of Service

Willow is a mental well-being and habit-tracking application offering features including (but not limited to): mood journalling, habit tracking, focus timers, sleep logging, AI-generated affirmations, a private social feature ("Anchor Circle"), a virtual companion system, an in-app currency system ("Essence"), and a premium content marketplace ("Essence Center").

The Service is currently in Early Access. Features may change, be added, or be removed without prior notice.

4. User Accounts & Authentication

You may use Willow anonymously. To save your progress, you can create a permanent account using Email/Password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@danukstudio.com of any unauthorised access.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or that we believe poses a risk to the integrity of the Service or the safety of other users.

5. In-App Purchases & the Essence System

Willow uses an in-app currency called Essence. Essence can be acquired by:

Completing in-app tasks (free)
Watching rewarded advertisements (free)
Purchasing Essence bundles through the Essence Center (paid)

All paid purchases are processed by RevenueCat and fulfilled through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. By making a purchase, you agree to the payment terms of the applicable store. All purchases are final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law or the App Store / Play Store refund policies.

Essence has no cash value and cannot be transferred, exchanged, or redeemed for real currency. We reserve the right to modify the Essence economy, pricing, or the cost of unlockable content at any time.

6. Advertising

Willow displays advertisements via Google AdMob. On iOS devices running iOS 14.5 or later, we will request your permission to track your activity across apps and websites for personalised advertising, in accordance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised. You may change this preference at any time in your iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

7. AI-Generated Content

Willow uses the Google Gemini API to generate personalised affirmations, wellness insights, and companion responses. AI-generated content is provided for informational and motivational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. Do not rely on AI-generated content for health decisions.

8. Health & Medical Disclaimer

⚠️ Willow is not a medical service, crisis service, or mental health treatment. The App does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any health condition. Nothing in the Service should be construed as medical or psychiatric advice. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact a qualified healthcare professional or emergency services immediately.

Willow is a wellness support tool designed to complement — not replace — professional care.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Upload or transmit content that promotes self-harm, violence, harassment, hate speech, or discrimination
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities in the Service
Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organisation

10. Intellectual Property

All content in the Service — including the Willow name and logo, mascot characters (Bukky, Milo), UI designs, illustrations, animations, and source code — is owned by or licensed to Danuk Studio and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

By submitting any user-generated content (e.g., journal entries made public within a social feature), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content within the Service solely for the purpose of providing the feature.

11. Third-Party Services

Willow integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:

Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Crashlytics, Storage) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy

12. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Danuk Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or £50 (GBP), whichever is greater.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account via the App or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email (if provided). Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
